I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer and I want to upgrade my RAM. It uses RDRAM PC800 Non-ECC. Right now I have two 128mb modules making up 256mb of RAM. I just wanted to know if I add more RAM in the other two open slots do they have to be 128mb also or can I add two 256mb modules?

I think you can add any size, but most people here seem to think 512 is the sweet spot, and you won't get much, if any, improvement by going higher.
As RD is expensive, and Intel has even just about dropped it, maybe you should think with your wallet, not spend more than you have to, as it probably won't transfer to your next machine. -

I did an interesting experiment this weekend. I reduced the installed PC 133 RAM from 768 to 512 in one machine and left the other alone. The machines are otherwise identical setups running Win2000 Pro with ATI AIW 9000 Pros.
Both were set to capture football games on Sunday. I'll be damned if I could see a side-by-side difference in performance.
The extra RAM is going to be moved into a Supermicro Dual Slot 1 board I snatched on eBay last week for $1.00! :P

Alright thanks for the responses. I think I'll stick to adding 256mb of ram to make it 512mb since 256mb chips are almost $100 more each.
What processor do you have?
