  1. I bought Pioneer DVR A06 burner earlier this week.
It came with one Pioneer DVD-RW and one Verbatim DVD-R.

I got my first DVD experience today.

    Tools:

    TMPEGnc plus (2.59.47.155)
    TMPGEnc DVD Author (1.5.0011)
    Nero Burning Rom (6.0.0.28)

    I began with Pioneer DVD-RW

Following Lordsmurf Guide I extracted mpeg file from a VCD using IsoBuster and authored with TMPGEnc DVD Author.Burned with Nero Burning Rom. played on PC(Power DVD).Played well.

But when I put it into my Standalone DVD player It says "No Disk"
Then I encoreded that same mpeg1 file to mpeg2 with TMPEGnc plus and
authored with TMPGEnc DVD Author.Burned with Nero Burning Rom.
    same result. "No Disk"

    Verbatim DVD-R

This time Burned (MPEG2 file) with Nero Burning Rom.
Great... It works both on PC(Power DVD) and Standalone DVD player.

Why that Pioneer DVD-RW not played in my Standalone DVD player. Is it media problem?
    anyone can explain me....

Anyway , I must thanks to all who submitted great guides to dvdhelp.com.

  2. What DVD player do you have, maybe it is not compatible with DVD-RW discs.

I've had a very similar experience. The DVD-RW plays fine using PowerDVD, but my standalone says "no disc" after some whirring and purring.
There is a DVD reader firmware update available for my player (the drive is a DSL 710 A), that's supposed to increase the ability to handle DVD-RW. Time will tell. I haven't tried DVD-R yet, since I want to eliminate all other possible sources of error first.

Some of my players stutter or reject DVD-RW and DVD+RW too. The reflectivity on those discs is not great. Makes the players work overtime, some just refuse to cooperate. Have lower 30% to 60% max compatibility range. You're not in that group. Sometimes I'm not even in that group.

Cyberhome players are the best ones I've ever had in terms of DVD-RW playing. No load times or anything, just as good as a DVD-R or pressed DVD-Video.
