Is there a way to determine at what approximate speed you rip a 4.7gb dvd to the hard drive for further copying?
Example my PC - PIII 1 gig 133 Mhz 512 mb Ram, 80gb HDD IBM 5400rpm, Liteon LDW 811 dvd writer, Nero 6.0.0.23, DMA enabled on Primary & Secondary IDE controllers, HDD master in Primary, Writer Master on Secondary with no other devices attached to the same cable. Firmware upgraded on Liteon. The read speed is 2200kbps when creating image, the write speed is 11050kbps with + media so the writing is fine. IS it basically my CPU etc which means i'll always rip slowly until i update ?
Approx rip time 40-45 mins - write time 15-20 mins.
Is DVDdecrypter an answer or Smartripper ?
Will uninstalling the IDE drivers and rebooting the windows xp relly make a difference?
Is another sofware package the answer, I love Nero never had any problems - all comments appreciated.
Sorry if this has been covered i've read through various questions but no joy!

Your processor as well as a slow hard drive won't be helping things. I'll assume you are using your DVD Writer to rip, which is probably firmware limited to ripping at 2X. If you have a little money to spend, invest in (or borrow) a DVD-ROM drive and see if this cuts down your ripping time. I can recommend a Liteon 16X DVD-ROM drive.
If in doubt, Google it.
