I have one VOB, VTS_01_05.VOB that I can't seem to rip completely. Is there a way I can find out what part of the movie that file is because if it's like credits or something I will just skip it.

  3. or open that vob with PowerDVD. you might encounter navigational and audio/video glitches but you can at least see what part of the movie it is.

Obviously if you can't read it from the DVD you can't watch it all,
but you may have enough to see when the credits start .
Ifoedit is good for examining DVDs. You can check individual
VOB Ids and chapters and therefore know where to cut.

Open any explorer window, like "My Computer"

    Go to: Tools>Folder Options

When that window opens click the "File Types" tab at the top.

Scroll down the list to the VOB extention....if you don't have it you can add it. Anyway, click on the VOB extention to highlight it then click "change", and browse to find your DVD player program. Highlight the exe file....like: windvd4.eve and then click "OK" until all the windows close.

What this will do is it will let you play a single VOB file by just double clicking on it. So if it is on disk or HD you just need to double click it and it will open and play in your DVD app.

I use it to check it warnings, intros, and credits are contained in their own VOB file....if they are, they get deleted which saves me some % when I compress the movie.
