could anyone tell me or help me out on how to adjust the sound to make it a bit louder out of a avi format or xvid by useing goldwave?

Load the video into Gold Wave. Select Effect-->Volume-->Change. Change the volume percentage to your new volume, then select OK. Save as a wave file.
Load the original video into Virtual Dub. Select Audio-->Wave audio (direct Stream copy).
Select Video-->Compression-->(Your codec). Select File-->Save as...Hello.
