I just got the upgrade for Premiere 5.1 to Pro and have quickly put together some vacation video and burned it to a DVD. The total disk space was a little over 3 GIG and took about 12 hours to burn.
Two questions about this:
1- IS THIS NORMAL? maybe I have some setting that I need to adjust or something but this seemed to be an extreemly long time.
2-IS THERE ANY WAY TO MAKE COPIES OF MY MOVIES THAT WON'T TAKE THIS LONG? again maybe my ignorance on the subject is the culprit here.
Can anyone at least point me in the right direction?
Thanks.

1) This is normal! Encoding from avi to mpeg2 takes a long time. Depending on the settings, you can encode faster but you would lose quality.
2) You should never burn directly to DVD. You should export your video to a image file. Once your encoding is complete you burn your DVD.
I am using Premiere Pro to do exactly the same kind of project! What I do is I start the encoding before going to bed.... The next morning I wake up with my image file and burn it to DVD -

I do no actually use the "Create a DVD" function.
I use Adobe media encoder (In the Export function of Premiere Pro) to make a DVD MPEG2 compliant file.
Then you have to use another software to author a DVD.
Check in the AUTHOR section or in TOOLS.. You will find plenty software that can do that, from freeware to very expensive one.
With the authoring software, you import your MPEG2 file and create a DVD. -

And will that take less time to make copies then?
