My current setup is: Dell 8000 laptop / WinXP Pro SP1 (all current drivers and updates) / Buslink USB 2.0 4-port PC Card with external power (newest firmware) / I/O Magic USB2.0 external subsystem / Pioneer DVR-106D (Firmware 1.07) / Nero Express OEM 6.0.0.28 (also tried 5.5 burning rom) / No other dvd cd burning or authoring software installed. I can burn data cd-r and cd-rw's (memorex and tdk medium) with WinXP's built in software but when I try to use Nero to burn anything (including DVD-R's) the burn process starts then the light on the drive goes off and Nero freezes. This happens with every version of Nero I've tried. I have ASPI 4.71.2 for WinXP installed, but i know Nero uses its own ASPI. Every time I tried a new version of Nero I cleared it out of the registry too to make sure there weren't any stuck drivers or such. I also uninstalled the drivers for the previous cd-rw drive. The external case previously had a 52x24x52 cd-rw drive installed that worked perfectly. The jumper is set to Master on the drive, I have tried Slave but this doesn't work either. Any suggestions on what I should try next would be great. Thanks for your time.
