  1. I hate doing this since this type of question/poll seems to get posted everyday. This one's a bit different, though, as I've already made my purchases. As a result of my Black Friday shopping, I've ended up with the (5) DVD burners listed in the poll options (I got two of the Optorite/PacDigs). I already own a 2X Cendyne/Pioneer 104 which I'm going to sell on eBay, so I want to replace that drive plus keep another one for my other PC.

The Optorite/PacDigs have received the highest ratings on this forum, but I know that Liteon makes quality optical drives. I'm sure their firmware will come around if it hasn't already. The Mad Dog choice is probably not a contender since it isn't a dual format drive, but it has received great reviews so far. The wildcard is the Micro Advantage/BTC, but with it being upgainst the other options in this poll, it would seem like it would not be the best choice.

Please contribute your vote & any other pertinent feedback.

    Thanks,

  4. BUmp Bump, could be a rough ride :P

If the drives are supposed to be good ones, I geuss I would vote keep the ones you have two of, since you want to replace one existing drive and have one more, you really need to keep 2 drives right?

I already own a 2X Cendyne/Pioneer 104 which I'm going to sell on eBay, so I want to replace that drive plus keep another one for my other PC.
With 2 the same, you would have the option latter to stick them together and try a mini 2 disk duplicater if you wanted, I am geussing the same specs right.

Then again if you take 2 different drives, you can compare them and use the best the most often and the other for fall back. Or if one drive writes better to cheap disks and the other to expensive you can jump around by what you get the best deal on for disks too.

OR, if you find a player having trouble with your disks as normally burned on one burner you can then try the other.

Hmmm, so many things to think about, I have no advice, but BUMP

I started using my new MicroAdvantage drive today. No complaints.

Only "problem" was Nero 5.5.10.20 did not see the burner, but an update to 5.5.10.54 fixed that.

Change my vote away from LiteOn. Add it to the Micro. I'm liking this new drive. Nothing wrong so far. Burned a handful of discs.

If you keep the Lite-on you can use K-Probe to test the disks you burn. Good tool for examining the quality of the disks you are using, and the writing quality of the drive at different speeds. You can find the best strategy for particular media this way. Wish there was a generic tool like this readily available.

  7. I've made my decision. I'm going to keep one of the Pacific Digitals (Optorite) & the LiteOn drive. I really wanted to keep the Micro Advantage, too, but I need the cash to pay for the two drives that I'm keeping. Now I have to go & sell my old Pioneer 104, a PacDig, the Mad Dog, and the Micro Advantage DVD burners on eBay.

    Thanks for the input,
