take 1500 grit wet sanding paper, some water and a drop of dawn soap and sand down back of disk. dont wory you cant hurt the disk any more than it is. whan it is nice and all sanded take a regular car buffer with some regular car buffing compound (from auto zone ect...) and hold onto the disk with you fingers and put the buffer upside down on the floor or counter turn it on an turn the disk while you hold it againt the wheel of the buffer. hold on tight to the disk or it will fly across the room into the wall most likely breaking. guarenteed to make new like disks.
let me know how it works.

This is by far the most retarded thing I've read here.

not 20 min ago i had 3 disks that would not copy in any progran. now they will how f#%& retarded is that.
how would you know if you havent tried it.
you people here are so judgemental, you think you know it all. god forbid anyone tries something new.
the princeable behind this concept is take fine sand paper and make smaller scratches where there are big ones. the buffing compound has even smaller grains in it makeing those small scratches you just made even smaller (virtually undectable)
this is the princeable behind autobody. how do you think they get those high gloss paint jobs.
i do this all the time to fix scratches. what do you do

I third this is the most retarded thing i've read on here. Well...maybe the second or third most retarded thing. It's one thing to try a wax or toothpaste.....even though toothpaste worked for me once...it made a shit load of scratches on my original disk..I wasn't too happy about that. But to say to use sandpaper on a disk that won't read is just ....well...it's already been said.

after you have tried it THEN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CRITIZIZE
If you did get those disks to fully rip..it would be by some miracle....not by using sandpaper on the write side of a piece of media. Your post should probably be deleted as some people may actually buy that B.S. And as far as not being able to ruin the disk any more then it already is..that's a crock of crap too. When I first tried toothpaste on a disk that has damage to the last half of the last vob....I put the toothpaste on very softly with my finger and when I was done the entire disk was ruined. There were a ton of "new" scratches caused by the toothpaste and instead of my disk just having a vob that wouldn't fully rip...the entire disk was now ruined.
I figured a few people have said it worked...so the next time I had a disk that wouldn't fully rip...I analyzed it closely..saw one bad scratch..applied the smallest dab of toothpaste I could...rubbed it even smoother then before...and this time it worked. But the point is that doing EITHER of these methods CAN absolutely make the disk much worse then it was originally. So saying that RUBBING SANDPAPER on a disk isn't going to make it worse then it is...well that's just pretty dumb statement.

As per the other posts. It is one thing to use a VERY MILD abrasive like toothpaste, but it is another to use sandpaper of any sort -- even a very fine one if you are going to work on it with your hands.
I suggest that people continue to use toothpaste with a polishing agent afterwards ... or buy one of those scratch fixing devices.
