  1. HI,

I have used Instantcopy 7 quite a bit, but I just upgraded to IC8 and I am concerned that it's either broken or I'm doing something wrong. I hope it's me!

I'm trying to backup the dvd "Chasing Amy" and it autoselects the compression percentage to be 43%. I can move the compression slider for the main movie (title 1, vts 5) up and down just fine.

However, on title 4 (vts 6) the slider is greyed out and I can't move it. Title 4 is most likely 'making of' extras that I'd like to keep but at a much lower compression level in order to put more space into the main movie. Title 4 is 1.33gb original size so I should be able to get a lot of space back for the main movie (Title 1) by compressing Title4 more. Nothing I can do (no key I can find) will enable the compression slider for any other Title or VTS other than the main movie.

I remember with IC7, if the size of other Titles was too small it would not let you change them. However, this Title 4 is 1.33gb !

Has anyone else seen this? Is there a way around it?

    Thanks

Well you are starting the whole thing in "Custom Resize" I assume. Isn't there a "Preview" pane available for title 4 so that you can view it's contents?

I just checked a backup of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and 2 out of 6 Titles were greyed out (about 45MB). Both are theatrical previews. I assume mine are just too small, but you state a size of 1.33G (?) Maybe this is just a fluke, have you tried any other DVD's? Either way IC should show you what's in 4.

You aren't by chance using 8.0.0.251 are you?

Yes, I am starting it in "Custom Resize", and it turns I am using 8.0.0.0251. I guess I'll go look for an upgrade or something(?)

At this point I'm about ready to downgrade back to IC7... in IC7 you could easily resize anything that was 10mb or higher ... so the 45mb titles you're taking about *should* be able to be resized.

I never had this problem with IC7 but more discs that not have had this problem with IC8. I'm guessing it has to be a bug or something.

.251 is basically a leaked beta, not a version worth worrying about or even discussing.

I don't know where you got that, but I am most certainly not running a leaked beta. I am running the version I purchased at my local Fry's Electonics.

Does anyone have an idea why the compression slider might be greyed out and not let me resize Title 4?

  6. I think I came across some titles that were grayed out because they were too small to begin with.

I have too. In this case, the title is over 1 gb; usually it lets you resize titles that are over 20-30mb.

Has anyone else even seen this problem? It surely can't be just me?
