  1. I use the I-Author authoring tool for my SVCD's.
I-Author produces an Easy CD Creator disc image (.cif) file.

I use the patch so I can create .cif files that exceed the capacity of a 80min(700Mb) CDR.
I have myself a nice image file that would fit on a 90min(800Mb) CDR.

My question is: How can I burn this oversized image on CDR?
    Problems:
    - Easy CD Creator does not support 90min CDR's
    - I tried to convert the .cif file with CDMage (for use with fireburner) but I got the following error message:
"File length doesn't match sector boundary"

Who knows how to do this? Can you help me please?

  2. I found the solution on the CDMage Discussion Board.

When did you get the error msg, when you first loaded the cif file or when you tried to convert to bin and cue?

Make sure you are using the latest beta version of CDMage, its the only one that will do the cif->bin conversion.

After you select save as bin change the sector thing to 2352 otherwise it wont work.

I use this procedure all the time to author I-Author created svcds onto 90 min media, works everytime.

  4. You are right Adam. I was not using the latest beta version.
    I downloaded the wrong file.

But I still have a problem with fireburner.
When I burn the 90min. disc (fireburner) with track-at-once I receive an error message (around 80min position) that the track is too large.
When I burn with disc-at-one (DAO) all goes fine!

Problem is - my Mustek DVD player only reads SVCD's that are burned with Track-at-once.

Perhaps I need to buy myself a new burner.
    Any ideas?

  5. Hi,
As you're using i-author, I'd like to ask you a question.
I've been trying real hard to reproduce muxing with i-author tools, but in vain.
The resulting MPS file is not readable, and neither is the burned CD.
If I mux the same streams with another tool, all works OK.
But I want to use i-author as that's the only tool I know to allow multiple subtitles on SVCD.
Is muxing with i-author OK for You?

The I-Author multiplexor has a serious bug which causes your movie to go out of sync at about the ~40 min mark. Whenever my size per disk is shorter than this and I need subs I use the I-Author multiplexor and have never had any problems.

What do you mean by the .mps is not readable? No media player is going to be able to play it correctly if at all. The only thing you should be able to do with it is load it into I-Author. You loaded the .mps into I-Author and authored your disk and burnt it and the disk was unreadable? Maybe you should try again because it works fine for me.

  7. I have no problems with the mps files in I-Author.
I also have no out of sync problems with movies larger than 40 min. Perhaps I'm just lucky.

    I work this way:
    1. I always mux my movie to a .MPG file with TMPegEnc. (Than I cut the movie in 2 pieces.)
    2. After that I De-Mux with TMpegEnc to .MPV and .MP2 files.
    3. Than I use the I-Author multiplexor to build the MPS files.

    But I still can't get my 90min cd's working.
How do you do it Adam? Do you burn your SVCD's as disk-at-once or track-at-once?

I just burn it using the default settings in CDRwin. I honestly have no idea whether it burns as TAO or DAO, I can't seem to find a way to select between the two. My dvd player handles the disk fine except when I jump to a chapter near the end of the disk, presumably past the 80 min mark, it takes a long time to load it.
