If you don't want to update, do what I had to do before it was changed:
-when you have pressed Encode in the old DVDMenumaker, its window disappears, but the program for some reason of its own stays in memory. So you call up the Windows TaskManager by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del (once!), select DVDMenumaker (or, as the case may be, 'DVDMenuMaker (Not responding)'), and click End Task, bottom left.
You get a window and click End Task again. DVDMM disappears for real now, and SVCD2DVD gets back to normal.
Hope this helps..

Anyone,
I have the same problem using 98SE. The answer is to wait several minutes.
Eventually the Menu window will disappear and the SVCD2DVD window reappears but is not fully formed. At this point, go to Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del) and close MenuMaker. This will allow SVCD2DVDto continue.
Click Start and let the program do its thing. And you will end up with the
menus you created.
