  1. I have a very large collection of avi/mpeg files and need a better way to organize them. What i am looking for, im sure does not exist, as i have done many many searches on the topic..

    but..

IT would be nice if there was a database type program with built in player.. and "tagger" like a video-player version of MusicMatch Jukebox or something so i could organize my files in lists by genre, year filmed, actors, etc..
This program would allow me to arrange these how i want, and select them by a picture icon shwoing the cover of the movie, etc..

Does anyone know of a program like this? If not, why dont they make one?

    thanks

  2. Would it not be possible with Access or XL by inserting the movie path/filename as a hyperlink field within each record? I'm no expert but it seems possible and you could customise it to your own satisfaction

  4. er.........well to put it simply they're Microsoft proprietry programs for designing and maintaining databases, spreadsheets etc. that are bundled in the Microsoft Office package!!!

If you've really never heard of them then I suggest you carry on looking for a bespoke program type solution because ,although not that difficult to use ,they would require a bit of training from someone who knows. Plus they're not cheap if you don't already have Office installed

  5. ok.. i know what you mean, and yes, i have those both

but i dont think theyre quite what im looking for.

i wanna associate a jpg image of the actual movie poster, etc.. with the avi file... and its information, and be able to broswe through the lists..

    kind of like "mame32"

...then que them up and lay them..

but thanks for giving it a crack

Access is a database application that you use to design your own databases. As you are designing it yourself, you can arrange for it to link any one thing to anything else. So would be able to do what you want easily.

There is only one downside. You will need to design the database yourself or pay a programmer to do it for you. and believe me, Access is not the easiest program to learn!
