Hi i was wondering advice on software that can allow me to remaster my videos. Some are from live tour shows and they are kinda fuzzy and the colors are faded, i want to remaster them with better colors and maybe better sound.

Do anyone have good advice on software?

    Thanks

    Eve.

Three powerful ones to look at Eve would be

    1. Adobe Premiere Pro (best of the bunch, but expensive)

    2. Edit Studio from Pure Motion (excellent quality for the money)

    3. Sony Vegas Video (I have only tried an earlier version so I cannot comment on the recent one)

Edit Studio has a 30 day free trial for download.

You will need a high quality VCR with a built-in TBC (only the S-VHS JVC models basically have that) as well as a stand alone TBC. We are talking big bucks there.

The good news is you don't need any of those expensive programs listed. There are many filters for VirtualDub and/or AviSynth that will help clean up the video to an extent. You will need a decent WAV editor but GOLDWAVE does the job well and is not too expensive.

On top of that you need a good capture device. The Canopus ADVC-100 is your best bet there.

This does not come cheap though.

    S-VHS VCR = $350 to $400
Stand alone TBC = $180 to $300 depending on model you get
    Canopus ADVC-100 capture device = $250 to $300

Plus your computer with a DVD burner and whatever GOLDWAVE costs. You will also need a good MPEG-2 encoder such as TMPGEnc or CCE BASIC aka CINEMA CRAFT ENCODER ... both of those cost about $70 each but you only need one or the other (my vote goes to CCE BASIC).

    P.S.
Oh yeah ... you need a HELL of a LOT of time too

Great, the trouble is that i only have 3 days of trial for adobe pro premiere and i only know how to insert videos in the timeline or mix them to make inteactive menus, but i do not know how to use the filters as:

    Blur,
    Hue,
    Color,
    Darkness, etc.

That steady move demo was so so wonderful, that is what ive been looking for a long long time, since my tour videos are so shaky this will help it much much.

So please anyone knows what buttons to press exactly to remaster these things.

    Thanks

    Eve.

Premiere has a very large learning curve.

Give Edit Studio 4 a try.

There is a 30 day trial version for downloads and a link to several easy to follow tutorials for ES4. Much easier to learn than Premiere.
