Just picked up one of these camcorders. I'm entering the world of capturing, editing, and burning video. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm sure glad I found this site but what a lot of info to digest.
I believe i can get the video from the camera into the computer via the firewire. Looking for a good video editor to start out with that won't be to frustrating.
Any tips or info regarding this particular camera would be appreciated. Point me in the right direction please
Thanks in advance

Yes, you can transfer (not capture, that is a different thing entirely and only applies to analogue video not digital) your video from the camcorder to computer using Firewire. It's once you've got it that the fun starts! You can have a good video editor or a video editor that won't be too frustrating but not both. If you are running Windows XP, you should already have Windows Movie Maker. It isn't up with the likes of Adobe Premiere or Ulead Mediastudio Pro, but will do most things you'll want of it to start with. Once you get the hang of editing, then you might want to move on to something more complicated.
For starters, keep it simple. -
I would recommend Ulead Videostudio 6 or 7. The capture process is painless with firewire and these two programs both offer better editing then Windows Movie maker. The latest version retails for $99 US, but you may be able to find a copy cheaper. Best of all, it is pretty straight forward and easy to use. I use it when I teach middle-schoolers to edit video...
