  1. I got Nero 6 thinking I would be able to burn Ritek DVD-RAM after trying to burn with 5.5.0.54 without success. Neither worked. But I found out something else. When I burned with 5.5 I would burn 2x media at 2.4 when I went to 6.0 and then 6.0.0.28 I could only burn 2x media at 2. Went back to 5.5.0.54. Also noticed lead-in and lead-out was slower with 6.0. Anyone know what's up?

Well, the consensus here seems to be Nero 6 is a 'work in progress'. I still use 5.8 for most stuff. Nero wants to be everything to everybody and doesn't seem to do anything that well. I'll wait for the final version if they ever settle on it. If you got Nero problems, try the alternatives.

    5.5.10.20
    5.5.10.28
    5.5.10.35
    5.5.10.42

    All before had bugs.
All after (6.0.0.0 and up) still have bugs.

The 4 I just mentioned are the sweet spot.

Edit .... add 5.5.10.54 to the "good list"

Does that mean 5.5.10.54 introduced new bugs, or that you haven't bothered trying it yet?

  5. I'm using 6.0.0.11 and I've had no problems at all with it, but that seems to be somewhat dependant on your computer set-up. I know a few people that have various problems with it that I don't have on my system.

I guess I'll make my first post on this site in this thread. I originally
had something like Nero 6.0.0.19 and it had issues with the lead-in (regardless of DVD format) on my Teac DV-WD50 (which I hear is basically the same as the Pioneer A06). Anyway, I updated to a newer version of Nero (6.0.0.23 ??) and it solved the problem. Everything has been smooth since then. Not one failed burn yet (DVD or CD).

So, yeah, Nero 6 probably has bugs, but they seem to be very dependent
    on your specific system setup.

That must have been short-lived. Never heard of it. I though 42 was the last one before 6.x.x.x started

I used Nero 6.0.0.11 for a while with a Pioneer DVD-106 with no inherent problems. I upgraded to 6.0.0.15 and it cracked the sh*ts badly. I then rolled back to 6.0.0.11 until I was game enough to try 6.0.0.23 and I still have that as we speak with no problems whatsoever.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Hooray for updates that actually improve performance! It's sad that we need to think twice before "updating" in today's software climate. Good think we've got a user base here that will warn us which versions are landmines!
