Want to hook up Computer to HDTV questions please help!!!!

I just upgraded my whole computer and was looking into buying a new monitor, at the same time i was also looking into buying an hdtv. I was thinking of just going for an hdtv for my computer monitor. My question was, how it would look going from my s-video out on my geforce 4mx to hdtv's svideo in? I also saw a Zenith hdtv with svga inputs and was wondering if im better off getting that one or would it look better buying a regular hdtv and going svideo. Please help , your input would be greatly appreciated as im new to this!!!!!!!
