    Hey all-
Need help from these forums as I still can not create an SVCD without major hassles.

I have Win2K (SP2) and ATI AIW card. I have TMPGenc, VirtualDub and of course MMC 7.1. I also have the Huffy codec installed. I recently installed the wrapper for W2K (thanks to the forums) and can now capture in eithe MMC 7.1 or VirtualDub. Here's where it gets weird...

When I try to capture in VirtualDub I can not change the "YUxx" settings (can't remember the default). Furthermore I can not change the size to 480x480 even when using the custom setting part of the program. So I live with it and capture a .avi at the default settings but lose TONS of frames.

    Here's where it gets weirder...

Whenever I launch TMPGenc or VirtualDub a DOS window opens up along with the program with weird lines of code appearing as I change settings and use the program. If I close the DOS window it closes the window plus the app that generated it. It's quite unsettling and I wonder what's causing it.

So here's my workaround to capture and burn to SVCD (hardly a workaround)...
I capture using ATI TV program directly to .avi using the Huffy codec. I then encode the file to an SVCD compliant MPEG2 then burn with Nero. Problem is... for even two minutes of a/v it takes 15 minutes. For 5 or 10 minutes I'm looking at an hours wait.

I have scoured the forums and have lots of software and have played with all my settings... how can I more efficiently capture for SVCD and more importantly what's with those damn DOS windows!!!???

Thanks all - I would not be able to stay with this and make progress without the forums!
