I'm going to buy a writer this weekend. I have the option to select among these three. Which one should you have bought?

I just ordered a 106 and I've been using a 104 for a couple of years with no problems.

  4. The LG. DVD-RAM's compatibility with DVD players is exceptional.

Thanks you for your most apreciated input guys (and gals?)! Well, the shop was out of Pioneers, so I opted for the NEC. Seems like it comes with the 1.07 firmware that's supposed not to be the best I've gathered - Flashing coming up!
    Update:
After initial try leaving me with a half way reflashed drive (Official 1.08 version), I rebooted and tried again (holding my breath the whole time), and this time it worked. Phew! I was scared there for a moment...
Writing my first DVD image right now, and it looks fine this far.

Upgrade to 1.08 finally went fine, but it seems like my standalone doesn't like DVD-RW, even after updating the DVD drive firmware of my standalone, and I've got no +RW to try. I'll sacrifice a -R now, just to make sure my asumption that it's the standalone not liking +RW (Maxell of MCC manufacture) that's the problem... Got to author a rip first.
One odd thing is that once or twice both Nero and DVDDecrypter hangs at 100% (DVDDEcrypter says something like "Syncronizing Cache") but after rebooting to get the disc out, it seems OK - At least it plays using PowerDVD (but we all know what "playable using software player" means: Nothing! )

    Update:
Ah! my standalone swallowed my DVD-R without problem. Thank God, it was just that it didn't like -RW. Gonna try a +RW too, before giving up on rewritables.
