  1. i'm pushing digital video through DVD2AVI and then converting it to a "fake" AVI using VFAPIconVEN to use with Premiere PRo. the video is interlaced and when i get it to Premiere, horizontal lines show up fairly dramatically when fast motion is happening.

i've tried using a "deinterlace" setting when exporting to .mpg1 but this separates the audio and video into two separate files which won't work for my purposes.

i've also tried selecting the progressive box in mpeg2 but this still doesn't stop the problem.

is there another program to deinterlace the video with BEFORE i import it to Premiere?

    any advice would be appreciated.

If you intend to watch the video on TV don't deinterlace it.
I will be OK on the TV.
    MPG1 doesn't support interlaced video

Vdub has deinterlace filters if you insist

  4. There are several de-interlacing filters (VDub has them as does AVISynth). Another way to go is to resize the video to ???x240, this results in only one field and thus does a quick/easy de-interlace.
