  1. I know this is a stupid question but I will ask it anyway.
Why is there no AC3 editor? I realize you can strip it to 6 wave files or into a stereo file with besweet and others, then edit and then convert back to ac3 with a resultant loss of quality.
But it seems someone could come up with an editor that would open up the ac3, pull up all 6 tracks, you could edit them individually as needed then save it all back as an ac3 with no or little loss. am i dreaming?

Yes. As AC3 is highly compressed and encoded audio data, it can't be edited. It's like asking to edit a word document inside a ZIP file without unpacking the document from the ZIP first, but even more out of the question.
