Here's what I'm getting:

No issues here. Of course this is on my pc...

So your browser does not support gzip either then Will. Give Mozilla Firebird a try, loads forum pages much, much quicker.

so perhaps it is not just the browser, rather any TSR filtering HTTP
traffic or even IE security settings.

Yep, some firewalls filtering https and removes the accept encoding. Check if you can disable it.

Craig, if the IE patch does not help perhaps try activating XP's
built in firewall and just disabling ZoneAlarm when visiting dvdrhelp -
that should afford enough protection while you are browsing.

I find I have to do this often - esp. with URL's with anti-leaching
software like doom9. With the latest security hotfixes, XP's built
in firewall is pretty good on it's own - the only big threat being
those bloody Russian web traps - and there is no noticable slowdown.

Its Zonealarm that is blocking internet explorer from using gzip. It does not stop mozilla firebird using it though. Have to try and find the setting in zonealarm now and turn it off.

Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.
All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet.

Can't see how to disable zonealarm from blocking IE from using Gzip, so I guess I will just use mozilla firebird for DVDRhelp from now on.

To be honest Mozilla Firebird is quicker than IE even with the firewall turned off, so I think I will stick to using Mozilla anyway, and I seem to be locked down pretty well with Zonealarm.
