    Hi,

I previously had LiteOn's 401S DVD+RW drive but changed it to 411S drive because I had a lot of problems with the first one.

Now I'm thinking if I should update the firmware from FS02 to FS0F. There seems to be some test at CDFreaks.com with both firmwares and it would seem like the original firmware (FS02) is giving better results with K-Probe. I burnt my first disc yesterday with this new drive and it didn't play ok in my standlone player. It has 'hick-ups' all the way and I've read that this new firmware will improve the playability in standlone players (as well as in Xbox).

What you think and if I update the firmware, do I have any possibility to downgrade that again to FS02?

    Thanks in advance!

Paiva,I would update,it gives you better reliability on more dvd-r brands.if you want to flash back to your previous firmware look for flashfix on google,it patches the liteon firmware so you can do this.

If I downgrade the firmware with that tool (I found it from http://digi.rpc1.org/flashfix.htm so thanks), do I lose LiteOn's warranty for this product since it's not provided/supported by them?

Another question: where can I obtain these older firmwares to this drive since it looked like LiteOn isn't providing them?

    Thanks again!

  5. You should be able to get a older firmware from the lite on group link below. I also have a tool that backs up your firmware and should be able to reflash it - its called Ltnflash if you want it or just do a google search that's how i found it.

    Hi,

I'm little bit confused right now. There seems to be different kind of softwares out there to help downgrade LiteOn drives and I don't know which one I should use.

    - Flashfix
    - Ltnflash
    - Mtkflash

Which one should I use and what is differences between these? It seems like Flashfix is the easiest software to use.

But wasn't able to find any earlier firmwares to this drive from the link you posted
