  1. i have a optorite 201 with 2.23 firmware and just tried to upgrade the firmware to 2.30 via windows and it came back in an error and now my system saids unknown device in bios and does not show up as a device in windows

    i tried to reflash in dos using the dos flash method but the flash program keeps saying no device on bus found

    what can i do to make this work ?

  2. If there is no DVD burner recognized in the BIOS, then you may have to RMA the burner back to the vendor/manufacturer. Optorite's windows version of firmware flash only works with XP/2000 and is rather buggy, you should have used the DOS flash in the first place.

    Optorite could be a little more clear in explaining that. Especially since the infamous 2.16 and 2.17 updates were flashable in WinME, as mine were (and both are still running 2.17).

    I wonder what issue this firmware updates addresses?

  5. I can't answer indolikaa's question. But since flashing with 2.30, I can finally burn DVD-Rs that will play on my Apex AD-1200. Previously, only rewritables would play.
