    What are they for? Do they just show up before the film starts when you load it in the DVD player?
    Sorry if this is too much of a dumb question but just curious.

  2. Get a DVD and load it up... See the menus and how they are used? VCD menus can be used to do a similar sort of thing.

  3. The menu is like the table of contents at the beginning of a book. It lists whats in the book, different chapter/track info, etc.

    99%+ of DVDs have menus (choose chapter, track, language, etc) And a lot of people think it's really nice/cool to have menus for their x(S)VCDs.

    So you put your menu at the start of the x(S)VCD, then hit a number of the remote to jump to a certain section or see what's on the disc.
