  2. I would ask this question directly to the TMPGEnc.
They don't mind if you use trial version.
Don't register, just send the question.
I'm also interested to hear the answer

  3. In Response to this topic and a couple of others I e-mailed Pegasys Inc. the following e-mail:
Hi, I am a trial user. I was hoping you could tell me if there was a way to change the yellow "rollover" on the menu buttons to something a little less obnoxious?

    On a side note:
I would have to say that this is a pretty exceptional peice of software with only a few exceptions.
-Not being able to have a lead-in video (one that only plays prior to the menu)
-Not being able to delete menu buttons while retaining the Video Title.
-Not being able to create slide shows.
-And of course the Yellow "rollover effect.

I appreciate the work your company has done and look forward to supporting your further efforts.

    Thanks for your consideration
    Here is there response:
    Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your interest in TMPGEnc DVD Author.

It is possible to have a lead-in video. In the Create Menu stage, select
"Play only first track" in the "Firstplay action" pulldown menu. The
first track must contains your lead-in video. Once the DVD is inserted
in the player, this track is automatically readed then the menu
    displayed.

You cannot delete menu button in the current version of TDA, but if you
use the menu template editor (Edit menu theme button), you can reduce
the size to 1x1 or even place it out of the video secure area.

Slideshow is planned for a future release. Be patient please this is
    only the first version.

Using the template editor, you can import your own button and rollover
effect. Please refer to the help file for more information.

If you have more question, do not hesitate to contact us again.

    Yours Sincerely,
I have to say both times I have contacted this company the have responded Quickly and very professionally. Its not surprising that it is a pretty exceptional piece of software.

I hope this answers some of the questions out there.

  4. So, looking into the Help (for the first time) I found the following
in Create Menu->Edit Menu Theme->Frame Image:
    -----------------------------------------------------------
If in the PSD file, there is a layer called "Highlight",
the highlight image will be input in the opaque part of the layer.
    -----------------------------------------------------------
Is it that thing that we were looking for, - 'rollover'?

    I think so.

  6. so does that mean that in actual photoshop i haveto create 2 layers (a background layer and a highlight layer[respectively named])and this will perform this function or me (the highlight layer being chosen instead of the yellow on choice?)

That is the way I interpreted the instructions as well, I'll have to try this soon and see because I have wanted to change that color for a while. When I try I'll let everyone know the results, but I've got much burning to do atm

  8. I don't suppose anybody out there would have an example .psd file that they would be willing to post that showed how this Highlight layer is supposed to be set up?

Any examples would be greatly appreciated.

  9. I tried numerous times to see any difference, but as far as I can tell, naming a layer "Highlight" does nothing. If someone figures out what I'm doing wrong or if the feature isn't implemented yet plz post here.

  10. Same for me
Tried to play with effects, colours and so on, - no difference.
One more negative stuff: there is no preview.
So I had to create tiny MPG file to work with and
actually run authorization to create some Volume X.
After that I use WinDVD to see what's changed.
I forgot to mention that I tried both: only frame-image and
actual frame on top of that frame-image.

Turtle49, could you ask them again what do we have to do exactly.
And of course, example(s) would be a greate help

  11. koic, I tried the same stuff you did...also no effect I hate not having a preview, I also make tiny compilations with a 10 second clip to test things out. It doesn't take a long time, but it is really inconvenient. I recall reading somewhere that the author is planning on adding a preview in the future, but I've seen no word on when that might be or if he still plans on it.

  12. ok.. i kinda got something going and i kinda dont :P , what ive done is went into photoshop, added a background image to background layer, created a new layer called 'highlight' and wrote/drew something on there, then i saved it as psd (keep layers). when i tested it out in tmpg dvd author it said "layered photoshop file was not saved with a composite image (which is bullshit caus i have 2 layers both with images) and the i exported it. when i tested it using powerdvd i got a black screen (due to no composite image ?!? BUT! the highlight showed me the outline of what i typed (i typed test in highlight)!. unfortunatley its still in yellow (also when i placed an image onto highlight layer i just got a big yellow block where the image is supposed 2 be ) arghhh.. ive just about given up on this!!! very frustrating. i dont know what else to do! HELLLPPPP :P

  13. I was sorting through some google results about this issue, and ran across a cahched discussion where someone mentioned it was not possible to change the color of the highlight at the current time. The guy (remember this is a guy who said he read the author said this...so it's now 3rd hand info) said the ability to change the highlight color was a planned feature.

So maybe one day we'll have that level of control...it's a shame because practically, it's a great program. Once we have more control over these and other aspects it could be the 'people's champ' of DVD authoring.

Well, meanwhile I moved to DVDLab.
I consider it as the best authoring tool for now.
At the beginning one should put some effot to understand how it works,
    but after that...

  15. i really dont have the time to mess around with the nitty gritty bits of dvd lab, hence the use of tmpgenc! (i agree its a better tool but its also much more time consuming). :P
