Hi what could cause playback problems with a DVDR on a notebook? The same disk plays fine on a desktop PC but there is sometimes choppiness on the notebook which requires a restart.
Any ideas what could cause this?

the same DVDR's work fine on a desktop PC, and normal DVD player the only problem is with the notebook. This notebook has no trouble playing normal 'original' DVD's

Sounds like the DVD-ROM in your laptop is not DVD-R compatible. DVD-R's are "burned" and retail DVD's are "stamped". That would be my guess.
CPU is O.K. because you can play retail DVD's.
