That depends on the Video source

and that depends on the target format

Give us some more info on what you are trying to do and someone may be able to help.

  3. You could demux the audio using TMPGEnc (File->MPEG Tools) then multiplex the audio to the other .M2V video.

  4. this way you would have to encode the audio to .wav, it wont take to long if you want to try.

get virtualdub (tools section) open the video file, select audio tap/select full processing mode, then select compression/ select mpeg layer3/ select ok. then go to file tab select "save wav" give it a name then save it.

that will strip the audio for a .wav file in about 6 or min.

next get TMPGEnc show it the target video file you want, then show it the audio you want. hit ok and save.

you can edit the audio with virtualdub to the time frame of your video file (if vid is 10min long you dont want to use 30min of audio)

virtualdub if freeware, you can get it in the tools section. there is a guide on converting with virtualdub on this site somewhere (thats where i learned to use it)

TMPGEnc has a free trial you can find in the tools section. it is a very usefull tool, price is not to bad.

    good luck,

  5. I have both programs.
They don't just take the audio from another movie and allow me to transfer it to another one.
VirtualDub either rips it to .wav, and tmpgenc can de-mux it from an mpeg.
My movie is in WM7 format.
All I want to do is take out the audio(audio is in WMA format).
Sort of like a direct-stream rip.

  6. try asftools. That MAY be able to convert the wmv to avi, then you can extract the audio. Repeat with second video. Use virtualdub to combine the audio and video streams of choice and then use Windows Media encoder to re-encode to WMV.

Seems like a lot of work doesn't it!

(BTW, WMV and WMA are microsft proprietary formats. MS come down hard on any 3rd party that produces software capable of manipulating such streams without their permission. That is why you are having difficulty finding tools to do what you want)

  7. You'll need a more robust program that supports WMV and WMA import and export. A number of the $75 to $100 A/V progs like Screenblaster will work. You can import a WMV, keep the audio and dump the video, move your original (ripped audio) to another track, import your second clip and delete the audio, then render your composite to the Windows format, in this case WMV, of your choice.

The reason the programs that will do this cost what they cost is due to the above mentioned Windows compliance and licensing fees.

  8. Asftools says I need a WM7 decoder.
    So it can't reconvert .
