I started out with a good search engine!
    then a dvd burner
    and nero6 or recordnow max

If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

  4. You'll also need some sort of modification on your game console if you plan on playing those backups.

Use a blank cd for a cd and a blank dvd for a dvd. PS2 games are both DVD's and CD about 97% of them have been dvds for the last 1.7 years or so.

If its a DVD game it will say DVD-Rom on the front if its a CD it will say CD-Rom on the front. DVD-Rs are silver and CDs are blue or purple in general.

Get a hold of one of these programs
    Recordnow max
    Nero
    Easy CD/DVD Creator
    Alcohol 120%

Dont forget you will need to get a hold of a mochip or Boot CD/DVD also

Use dvdshrink and recordnow max for movies
Also look for ps2 tutorial using the search function on this board and you will find some good stuff

why do you need a mod chip if you are doing a 1:1 copy of the dvd.
    Quote Quote
  20. well if i remember correctly and it is the same from the PS1 then there is a certain encryption or something along with that black disk they give you. The mod chip bypasses the encryption and allows the burned disk to be played.

I remember doing the swap trick with the first ps1. You tricked the machine into thinking it was an original black disk in the machine.

Why do you suggest dvdshrink and recordnow max for movies? I'm backing up my movies fine with DVD Decrypter--> DVD2One-->Copy2DVD.

I suggested those because it only takes 2 programs to make your movies instead of 3 but you can do what works best for you though

    Also dvdshrink is free

Also PS2 games are a simple disk copy with any dvd burning program

  23. so you're saying I can use Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 and that will work?? Just burn it as a CD Copier?? No decrypting is necessary??

What if it's a DVD game, would i insert a dvd and use CD Copier or would that not work??

I would still need to get something like a case though right

Yes Easy CD\DVD Creator 6 will work, not 5
5 is just Easy CD creator
For a dvd game you need a dvd burning program
some dvd burning program will also burn cds but none of the cd programs will burn dvds.

Yes you will need a boot disk and a way to fool the ps2 to think tht it has never been opened to play a backup like a flip top ,slide card, or no solder mod. (heck you can just buy a boot disk and never put your top back on if you like.)

I recommend a chip though for ps2 games you just stick them in and they play as normal without switching 1-3 disks to play certain games as you would with a flip top or boot disks.

I am an installer if you need one

ps2daddy..... you are an installer? I need to get with you then and maybe get you to install one for me. I see all your posts on this and I would like to have you do that for me if possible. Depends on your advice, I know how to solder and no doubt I could do it with advice, but I just need to know your input. Thanks.

What version ps2 do you have most version 1-3 dont ususally read dvd+r well.

If you make a movie on + r and it works than you know that a game will work

    Also there are sites like
    cdrom-guide.com
    ps2newz.net
    ps2ownz.com

They have tons of ps2 info
