  1. I use Mjpeg for capture and have used Intel Indeo Video R3.2 codex to render my edited AVI file. I experimented with others but TMPEG won't read the video. I like the StudioDC10 editing software so I need to render the edited file. Which codex works best for AVI out?

Also, I could not use the PicVideo Mjpeg codex for capture. Probably wasted $18.

Any recommendations for sharper VCD appreciated. Thanks

You must go to Options-Enviromental setting...-VFAPI plug-in and change priority of VFW AVI, from -2 to 1. Right mouse click.

If I am not mistaken, the newer version of TMPeg don't read the DC10 codec, but the older versions do. Try one of them if you can find one.

  4. The DC10 is a hardware MJPEG encoder card -- thus, you will only get the benefits of the card if you use the DC10 codec.

Yes, try NenoX's response - should work.
But, what NEW version are you talking about?
    2.0 or 12J ??

I don't use the 2.0 (though I have it), as it's now aiming
at Intel instead of AMD. It would be futile of me to spend
the $80 for something that is leaning towards the Intel
and not AMD, right? Anyways, I'll stick with what I have
(process) till I come accross a good MPEG-2 chip device
that does good captures and encodes direct to MPEG-2.
Sometimes I feel like trying out those MPEG-2 hardware
stuff (dazzle dvc II), but I will resist, ...or be assimilated! he, he...

Ok, after trying NexoX response, if his/her doesn't work, and/or
you are using the new 2.0 version, try the older version (any).
I use plain version 12. I don't "make movie" and encode to
another codec, such as the one you use, Intel Indeo, etc.
But, if you can, get a hold of the HUFFY codec (on this board)
and make your movie with this codec. There's only one glich
to this. It take forever to make the .avi file. I think that goes
with all the codecs in your setup.

(Ok, if you are doing those transitional stuff, then you wont benefit
from my process below, but if you don't need those features in
DC10+ 's movie making, try my process below.)

I don't bother with this step. I just encode the mjpeg file through
Virtualdub's frameserving to TMPG. And, in TMPG's [x] Source,
I set the range of encode, skipping over any commercials. But,
to do this successfully accross the whole project, you have to:
    * load your first .avi file into virtualdub and then follow it with
and Append avi, and check the [x] segmented box to automatically
add all the avi files. In virtual VD, you can cut all the commercial
out, but I prefer to skip this setp here, and instead, compile to
seporate projects and start process in Batch mode in TMPG.
Obvisouly, I use this process and I love it, except it is very
combersome/tedious. But it does exactly what I want - make
separate .mpg files of my encodes, and then I burn each .mpg
file (SVCD). This way, I can skip/jump to whatever scene I
want. I don't have FF/RW but this works for me. Each clip is
    5 or 10 min long.

If you would like any assistance in this process, let me know here.
I'm always refeshing my vcdhelp window for latest posts.

I hope I have ben helpful, if not, I very sorry!!
