Ok, so...I'm getting a home dvd+r recorder, one that is not in any way affiliated with a computer. My question is: do I have to buy special dvd+r media or all they all universal?
The only reason I ask is because I have a home CD burner and it, up until a certain time, took "home audio" discs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cheap media = Bad results and poor playback. In fact cheap media can mean no playback for last 1/3 of a disk, assuming it plays at all.

All DVD+R discs are universal. Even though some are labeled specifically for data or video, there is no difference between a DVD+R for data and DVD+R for video. The only difference I can think of is the case it comes in.
DVD+R for Video (DVD case):
DVD+R for Data (CD jewel case):
