  1. I just got a Cyberhome 1500 recorder and have a question regarding NTSC and PAL.

I know that if my source is NTSC, the recording will be NTSC. If the source is PAL, will the recording be NTSC or PAL? Can I feed a PAL source and have the resulting DVD be NTSC or vice-versa?

  2. The answer to your question is no. If the source is PAL the output is PAL, if the source if NTSC the output is NTSC. Also you cannot mix PAL and NTSC on a disc. If you record PAL you can only add PAL content to the disc and vice versa.[/quote]

  3. Not sure but this is how it usualy works (tested with Philips DVDR 75/17).

If source is PAL, recording will be PAL. If source is NTSC, recording will be NSTC. No conversion. NTSC and PAL can not be mixed on one DVD.

Can you test it on Cyberhome ? That would be best way to find out.

Thanks. That's exactly what I thought, but I was just too lazy to test it.

I was asking because I was going to transfer some PAL videotapes to DVD for my brother, but his player won't play PAL DVDs. He wanted to know if I could do them as NTSC for him.

I'm going to transfer one of my PAL tapes later, so I'll know for certain then.

    I am waiting

I am interested in this since I am trying to keep this type of problems together here:

NTSC (US) recorders that can burn or play PAL - multisystem

I just did a test which confirmed what was posted earlier. The resulting DVD will be in whatever standard that the source video was. If the source was NTSC, the resulting DVD will be NTSC. If the source was PAL, the resulting DVD will be PAL.

  8. One more question here. Does this recorder convert when you play ? Even better question. Can you watch PAL DVD on NTSC TV with this recorder ?

I believe that you can select TV output format. Right ?

Yes, the recorder will convert when you play, so you can watch PAL DVDs on NTSC TV. (Been there, done that.)

    Yes.

  12. What about somewhere in menu ??? Thank you for your help I would have try one by myself but local Walmart doesn't have any

  13. The tuner is setup for NTSC with individual channels, rather than PAL based tuners. It may work for PAL signals though? I'll find out in 4 months when I return back to the UK.
