  1. Has anyone experienced problems encoding an XSVCD (2 pass Mpeg2 2400 Kb/s max, 1650 Kb/s avg) on TMPeg) using a resolution 720 x 576. I have Tried this using DVDx, TMPeg LSX but always get noise/part picture on the bottom of the screen when played back in the Pioneer.
I have used NERo (sucks!!) and VCDImager (which works great on a standard SVCD file)

    Cheers guys .....

  3. What was your souce, for analog captures (esp from VHS) some noise at the bottom of the screen is common. Also you say the noise happens when you play the xSVCD on your DVD player. what about your PC or other DVD players (ie. does this only happen for your DVD player, and not others).

I would recommend editing the bottom 1-5 lines off when you encode. There are several ways to to this (either within TMPGenc) or by frameserving to TMPGenc w/ either Virtual Dub or AVIsynth (I use AVIsynth).

  4. The source is DVD, just tried the disc on realmagic plays fine on the computer.. havn't tried it on another DVD player yet
I wonder if the bit rate is too low, it shows as 2310 peak and 1658 avg in bitrate viewer (with quantisation level 5 peak 3 avg)

What is quantisation level?? havn't noticed it before
