  1. I know that lots of people have had this problem when making dvds that the audio goes out of sync after around 40 mins of playback on a stand alone dvd player............coz i know that i have !!!.

I'm a lazy bloke that just wants an all in one program to encode author burn avi's onto dvd..............simple eh ?......yea right.

I've tried arcsoft showbiz,nero6 vision express and dvdmovie factory 2 and all do the same thing audio goes out of sync.dvdmovie factoy 2 is the only program that will not transcode a file after encoding.

I emailed both arcsoft and nero to ask why this happends to get only one responce from nero saying *this is funny*..."sorry but we do not have a solution at this time" sounds to me that all they want is your money for the program *that dont work* but when you have a problem they fob you off with that classic line !!.

anyways ive looked for all in one guides on here not to find one that works or if it does it sounds way to complicated to even try.ive heard using tmpgenc is probably the best encoder around......so i used it to get a file about 2gigs big put onto disc to find that the film *original length 1hour 30 mins* is now 4hous 50 mins in length the video is fine but no sound.used tmpgenc again with a different file *slightly smaller one* to get a file too big to put onto dics.....beleive me ive thought about getting a gun and blowing my brains out coz of about 20 hours of wasted time encoding ect.

all i want is a not too confusing guide to put avi. onto dvd from start to finish that works !!!

    well heres wishing

Sorry, no easy answer to your question.

Avi's come in so many different shapes and sizes that there is no simple solution that works for all. Avi is basically a wrapper format and can contain video and audio in many different compression schemes from uncompressed to mpeg-4 codecs such as divx. Also the audio can be in many different forms from Ac3 to uncompressed wav. So no single solution is available that I know of.

I suggest you pick one of the guides on this site and work thorugh it. When you run into problems come back here and ask specific questions, detailing what you have done so far, and someone may be able to help.

To boot, most problems with AVI to anything else is due to the fact that the AVI is downloaded, and full of bad frames and other nastinesses that make it nearly impossible to fix and convert regardless of application used.
