  1. First of all, hope this is in the right place.

The past 2 dvd's I have tried to burn won't.
The writer copys CD's alright but it won't burn the DVD's properly meaning I wasted two discs in the process. I decided to test the next one to see if the same thing happens so I don't waste another disc and this is what came up, It came up with the same thing when it was burning it aswell. It always does it at around 18 minutes.

Then, when I try to play the disc on WinDVD, It plays but when I skip chapters to later on in the film, It doesn't work .

    Is it neros fault?
    Is it the burners fault?
    Is it the discs fault?
    Please help!!!

(The burner is a Panasonic LF-D521 DVD Multi Recorder and the discs are Red Datawrite 4x DVD-R and I ripped it with DVDShrink version 3beta5 if thats any help.)

  2. In Windvd you can play from folder. This would let you know if the video was good on the Hard drive or not.

    I hope this helps.

whenever i get scsi target error, its always been caused by a software conflict, have you loaded a new program lately? some programs will also change your aspi, so you might want to make sure thats functioning ok

  5. Try other softwares, like B's Recorder GOLD5. My cpu is 600Mhz and 448M ram, nero never succeeds but B's Recorder GOLD5 works fine.

  6. Oh my Lord. There IS one person in the world other than myself that likes B's Recorder!

ASPI: "Short for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface, an interface specification developed by Adaptec, Inc. for sending commands to a SCSI host adapter. ASPI has become a de facto standard that enables programmers to develop applications and drivers that work with all ASPI-compatible SCSI adapters."

What does this mean to you? ASPI is what allows the CD/DVD burners to talk to the system through an IDE/ATAPI interface. Nero has an ASPI (wnaspi32.dll) but some programs don't like it. If you're in a bind and don't mind throwing caution to the wind, try ForceASPI 1.7.

So, you mean I can burn DVD with nero if i install this ForceASPI? I have tried many times on nero. It's so painful. See here.. Do you think I can still use nero?

  8. Nero's control over it's own ASPI is absolute. So far as I know ForceASPI will not solve Nero-related problems. Other programs can share Nero's ASPI (VCDEasy comes to mind immediately) but some aren't willing to share completely.

If you are to the point of pulling your hair out, download/install VCDEasy's last free version (1.1.5.2, I think) and see if you can burn a VCD or SVCD with Nero's ASPI selected. If it works, your problem is probably not the Nero ASPI but either Nero itself or possibly a Windows issue.

For reasons only known to the Digital Lords, I had a version of Nero go from completely functional to completely nonfunctional through no apparent fault of my own. The ASPI still worked in VCDEasy but Nero refused to burn DVDs properly.

By the way, what version of Nero are you running?

    reggiebabe:

I suggest you update to Nero 5.5.10.50 or 5.5.10.54 (available for download from their website). Better still, go to Nero 6.

FWIW, I could never get CopytoDVD to work for me, but Nero always works fine.

  11. I have just done this ForceASPI thingy and I am just shrinking another DVD because I deleted the other files, I will try after and tell y'all after I have tried to burn/burned it.

  12. It worked . I think it was ForceASPI.

    Thanks for the help

  13. Well that's good to hear. At least you now know the burner is not the problem. ForceASPI was one of the best programs I ever found; it made VCDEasy run perfect on my systems.
