Hi i got a dvd (its already complete on my pc)
Its an english subbed dvd, but i want to add dutch subs from an srt file.

I looked around and i found a few vague guides/topics how to do this, so i think its possible.

I heared i can re-author my dvd in ifoedit ,(is there any other proper prog available that can do this anyway??)

use srt2sup to convert my dutch .srt subs into a .sup file, and then add it to my dvd... (dunno how to do this yet, but i thought one step at a time, help is always welcome )

problem is i just can't seem to get srt2sup to work properly, i got the latest version from their site, it says it has an .INI file it uses, well that isnt included in the install package, so when i launch the program it says:

    error ini file not found..

although this don't seem to bother much, cause the program does start and everything 'seem to work, but how the hell do i make that .sup file??? cause i tried everything so far, i think, and i never get proper subs...

anyone knows a GOOD guide for this tool, or are there any other ways of adding my own subs to an existing dvd(+r)??

    thnx

Yes, you're on the right track. srt- and sub2sup create .sup subtitle files for authoring with ifoEdit. If you use some other authoring application, try MaestroSBT, which can aoutput subs for other apps. It takes .ssa as input, but .srt can be converted to .ssa with SubtitleStudio.

Thnx for u're answer, only i still don't now how to do it...

ifoedit is a complecated prog. cause when i open my dvd (.ifo) how can i import my supp then and save it to a new dvd?

i mean do i have to strip/remux etc... everything?? i just want to keep the menu and everything from the org. dvd, just add those darn subs....

(dunno if they're gonna be in sync anyway...

Its a dvd i bought on vacation that doesn't have my language subs, these subs i got are home-made for an xvid version of my dvd, a friend of mine made... got the subs from him...but i guess i'll find out if they sync later...)

    so ?:
1- how to CREATE proper subs
2- how to get them, as easy as possible, on my DVDR?

My only experience with subs is with authoring a new DVD from scratch, not trying to add a sub to an existing complete DVD. No matter, you won't be able to add a sub without multiplexing it into the VOB.

  5. Hi,

Srt2Sup uses an INI file to store it's default values for projects. If an INI file does not exist on startup one is created and the values changed as you change the [settings][global].

You state you can'e create a SUP file, could you be more specific in what happens?

Let's answer your 2 key problems:

    1) Add subtitles to a DVD - You can do this with a ripped source and Srt2Sup. You state you have to use the [Author] mode of IfoEdit.

    2) Adding subtitles and keeping existing menus etc. I don't know how to do this in detail, however once you have completed step 1) above you can then re-add these VOB files to the original DVD files, but the new subtitles will not be selectable from the DVD menu. Only by using the [subtitle] button on your remote.

Check these forums for details on how to do this. I can help with specific questions on Srt2Sup?

    Regards

    Srt2Sup
