Hello everyone. I have some mp4 files which I would like to burn to VCD. However, when I used TMPGEnc to re-encode them to MPEG1 I got no sound. I tried to extract the sound with Gold Wave but it came out in smd (I think) format which TMPGEnc couldn't read. I then tried other software -MPEG 4 Direct Maker, Virtual Dub and Aare AVI - none of which worked. Has anyone done this conversion with sound? How did you do it? Thanks...

  2. What does gSpot and/or aviCodec say about your file?

Does it play okay in Windows Media Player / PowerDVD etc..?

How did you try to extract the audio with GoldWave? I don't understand the bit about 'smd' format above. Did you just open the video file in GoldWave, then Save as... a wav?
