When trying to rip into the Hard Drive two already DVD backups (The Hulk and Sinbad) , the Error CRC "Cycling Redundancy Check" message appears and won't let me continue. This occured with the backups but no with the originals (well, I haven't tried since this event). What may be happening and how can this be corrected? This ocurred with either DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5 and with Clone DVD .3.11.2

  2. It means the data doesn't agree with the error checking mechanism. It's a nasty read error, that one.

Try ISObuster and see if that helps - however, if the disc is truly damaged to a point where CRC errors are dotted around the place, then you might be flogging a dead one.

Give up trying to backup backups and return to the original - that's what you backed it up for, right ?

i would first clean them up really well, make sure theres no marks on them, and then use dvddecrypter to rip thwm back to your hard drive

Well, I tried the cleaning method without results, and, I don't think the backup was more dirty than the original which copied without problems. I didn't try Smartripper (which does the same as DVD Decrypter, right?). I'll try that. Just want to solve this dilemma. BTW, can the video files already ripped by Smartripper or DVD Decrypter be decoded by Clone DVD?

    Thanks.

i believe dvddecrypter does a better job on hard to read discs. i usually just send the ripped vob files back through dvd shrink, it has always worked for me

You may just be using poor quality media (most of the time this is the problem).

While it may PLAY fine, it won't READ in the DVD-ROM drive properly.

    Try better media.

  7. Im getting this error in DVD SHRINK with some originals and some backups ... I was backing up an original the other day and it kept giving me that error at about 90 percent so I tried just backing up the movie without the menu's or extras and it worked fine for that one.

If you're getting it with originals, it means the disc has a problem - dirt, scratches, or warping of the substrate.
