    Is there any software that can compress the MPGs' files to high compression format?

    There are lots of software that can do this with lots of different high compression codecs. See the "how to" section on the left side of your screen.

    There are several avi codecs like divx or xvid that will compress better than mpeg. Look in the guides for mpeg to avi.
