  2. You have to have a star chip or a mod chip installed, I followed a link, and there was a speical template there that writes an mpg that the PS2 can play,

Sorry can not remember the link, but it is out there,

I did not try it because, the format would not work on standalone DVD players

Not much help I know, but look around, instructions are there somewhere

How retarded. It would've been so easy to make that thing play VCDs and SVCDs. Their loss I guess.

  6. The PS2 as a game system is good, but they tried to put too much into it, not only were the components (like the DVD player) low quality (like Avatar pointed out no DD), but it made the price go up much higher than needed. I think that they should have made a game console-only system for those people that already had DVD players and everything else.

  10. Have you actually tried it?

This does not let your PS2 play ordinary VCDs... but rather convert your VCDs into a PS2 compatible format.

Exactally...No one said it was going to be easy.. To use the vcd player follow these simple steps.

    1.Unzip the PS2VCD.zip to your C:\

    2.This should make a directory C:\PS2VCD

3.Now encode your pss. Follow the instructions in the included document.

4.Take your encoded pss and name it MOVIE0.PSS

5.Place the MOVIE0.PSS file into the \MV directory replacing the existing file

6.If you wish to include a title screen for your movie make a picture of the dimensions 640x448
Use the included tool to change in into a TIM file take and name this file MOVIE0.TIM
Replace the TIM file in the \DATA dir with your TIM

7.Now Unzip and open up the enclosed the program CD/Dvd Generator

    8.Select File\Open then locate the VCD.CCZ in the C:\PS2VCD\

9.Open this up and then select Export iml file

10.Now export this iml file to the C:\PS2VCD directory

11.And finally run the Go.bat file

12.This will build the image needed

13.Burn this image in CDRWIN using Mode2 CDROM-XA Options

14.Swap using your favorite trick and enjoy.

    An audio convertor
and TMPGenc is supplied to help in the pss conversion process
    Have fun!

There is also a VCD player-not the gypplayer- for the dreamcast but it sucks.

  14. Dont like the PS2 movieplayer?
    Try PSS PLEX.....

    http://63.217.26.28/console/cgi-bin/dlps2.cgi?pssplex-setupfull!exe

PSS Plex is a collection of tools which are able to de-multiplex (split) a PSS movie file into it's component MPEG2 Video and WAV Audio streams, and the other way around multiplex (join) a MPEG2 Video and WAV Audio streams into a PSS movie file!
It also includes a tutorial on how to rip 5 games (Zone of the Enders, Extermination, Warriors of Might & Magic, Army Men Sarge's Heroes and XWinter games) while keeping the movies!

But you still have to do some monkeying around .
    Have Fun,
    El
