  1. I have an ifo and vob files on my hard drive and I have been trying to convert them to SVCD, but the audio is always out of sync.

The PAL vob files play fine with PowerDVD and WMP9, but no matter what I do, on the conversion, it's always well out of sync.

I have used DVD2SVCD w/CCE and and the sync is off. I have tried going DVD2AVI, extracting the wav, converting to MP2 and synching back up with the video, but again, out of sync.

Not only that, when I compare actual lengths, the audio is about 15 seconds longer than the video. So I used sound forge and compressed the audio to be 15 seconds shorter, but it's still out of sync.

Is it because of the LPCM audio? I've had no problems converting ifo and vob files to SVCD that had AC3 audio?

    what can I do?

    Thanking you in advance,

EDIT: Hmm, seems when DVD2SVCD grabbed the audio and the video from the vob files, it grabbed The full and complete audio and video: All the extras in a row, before the main feature. And after watching the extras on the DVD, I saw that in each case, the video paused once the vignette finished, but the audio continued for a second or longer, causing the audio sync issues. Badly authored DVD perhaps?

Anyway, I used DVD Shrink to extract only the Main feature that I wanted, then converted to SVCD and all is well that ends well.

p.s. I used DVD shrink to shrink the main feature down to 2100MB worth of miniDVDs (3 CD-Rs) just to see what it would look like in comparison, and I think the 2 SVCDs made with DVD2SVCD w/CCE look tons better.

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed too. The compression on the miniDVDs made the picture almost look like a bad framerate conversion. It looked a little jerky in some areas.

However, I made a miniDVD of the extras on the disk. They didn't add up to 700MB so I didn't have to shrink them, and they looked great.

So, I think the miniDVD format does have some merit, but not for replacing a good DVD to SVCD conversion.
