  1. Here I am still floundering around trying to do this (I thought I was smart when I bought a DVD-RW to test my attempted encodes...but none of my DVD players will accept it!)!
Anyway,my confusion is mostly over aspect ratios and the like.
    I have 2 XVID's....one is 608x256 and the other is 576x320.
I followed the TMPGEnc guide by Baldrick and unless I missed something there seems to be no mention of the "setting" of aspects (other than the defaults).Although I do have to say that my version of TMPGEnc is a little different than the screen shots...(ie:the wizard only offers NTSC (not NTSC and NTSC 16:9).
This is where I get mixed up .
If I want the end result to work on my new widescreen TV,it seems that the guide only refers to 4:3 (at least going by the screenshots anyway).
I would very much appreciate if someone could explain (in your best "dumbo" laymens terms for poor little wee-haggis) what my basic settings should be.
    Thanks a bunch.

  3. First, please do not bump your posts for at LEAST 24hours.

    Now on to your question.

In TmpGenc, try the following settings (you may have to set these manually, I have never used the wizard!)

On the advanced tab of settings:-

    Source aspect ratio, 1:1 (VGA)
Video arrange method, Full SCreen (Keep aspect ratio)

    On the Video Tab:-

    Aspect ratio - 16:9

This should give the correct aspect ratio for MOST Divx/xvid videos to be played on a widescreen TV.
