Hello,
Everything was working PERFECT up until a few days ago...
I am using Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2.12 and up until a few days ago, I was able to burn to DVD+RW/+R on my Micro Advantage DVD+-RW DVD Writer.
But now when I go to the BURN page of DVD Movie Factory, the RECORD TO DISK option is greyed out and it says, BURNER NOT FOUND.
Can someone please tell me why/how to fix this problem? I am running Windows 98SE.
Also, I can't even watch any DVDs. I tried PowerDVD, WinDVD, and PC-DVD Encore, but they all kept saying, NO DISK INSERTED even though I already had it inserted.
Thanks for the help.

Have you tried using the knowledge base for Movie Factory to see if this has appeared before, or maybe there is an updated driver list you need to install
Have you installed ANY software or updates just before the problem appeared
I'm not sure if this would work for Win98SE its a long time since I used Win98, but I've had this problem before with WinXP so I'm guessing it can be fixed the same way
My CD and DVD drives vanished one day, took me ages to find a fix, but assuming its the same problem, it was/is related to a registry key going screwy
Do you're drives exists or are recognised when you look in 'My Computer' ??
Have you first checked the IDE cables for being securely in place, basic things like that. Even if they look in place, give then a push just to make sure, even slightly loose could make a difference
If you feel brave in using RegEdit to edit your registry, its not hard to use as long as you don't go mad and delete this you don't know what its for ...... I have yet to screw it up
Try following this link :

If that doesn't workf or you, try doing a search via Google or some other decent search engine to try and narrow down you're problem -
steptoe,
thanks for the advice, but no luck yet!
Last week I uninstalled a LOT of programs to make more room on my Main C: drive.
Yes, the drive exists under My Computer and when I put in a DVD, I can read the files through Windows Explorer and access them. But when I try to play them with DVD software, I still get the same error.
Checked IDE cables and they are in tight.
I tried the Registry fix but that didn't work.
I am still not getting the BURNER NOT FOUND message in Ulead DVD Movie Factory.
Any other advice would truly be excellent, for I am in a slump here -
FIXED!!!
I had corrupt ASPI drivers so I installed ASPI 4.60 and it WORKS now!
Thanks for the help!
