Well, things are coming along. Thanks for the response Zippy. I was wondering if I the performance I am getting w/ TMPGEnc is normal (I have the plus version) or if I can speed / tweak the process. It appears it takes about 3x as long to convert AVI to SVCD. Meaning for like 45 minutes of AVI, it is taking 2 - 2.5 hours of conversion time. I was wondering if this was normal, if my machine makes a difference (P3, 1gig, 512mb), and if there is a formula to it?
Thanks.

Sounds about average....
There is no formula becuase there are so many variable.
From the obvious, CPU speed, RAM speed and size, bus speed, ide speed, HD speed, fragmentaion of the HD causes more seek time.
To the amount of things going on in the background, software running.
To how the original video clip compares to the output.
Is the source compressed, what codec?
Are the sizes the same? changing resolution slows it down.
What is the audio format? compressed or not?
Lots of variables as you can see.--
