    Hi all,

    I want to rip one song from an encrypted DVD without resampling, save it as MPEG-2, keeping both AC3 streams muxed in. Actually, I wanna rip the entire dual layer disc, CSS encrypted, to one large MPEG-2 file at my HD.

    I am trying a DVD-9 two layer disc, 125 minutes long, two AC3 tracks, CSS encrypted (Clapton "One more car one more rider" DVD);
    The song "Bell Bottom Blues" starts at VOB 1 and ends at VOB 2.

    I used DVD Decrypter and saved the entire DVD to the HD.

    ChopperXP is free and allows to cut pieces of a VOB. So I cut the end of VOB 1 and beggining of VOB 2 that fits the song;
    VOBEdit merges the 2 pieces to one VOB, and Womble converts the VOB to MPEG - but not precise.
    Then, I used WombleMPEG to convert both pieces of VOB to MPEG, and merge them in TMPGEnc - again, not precise.

    DV Tool merges all VOB's into one large file - again, transitions are not precise.
    VOB edit also can merge the last piece (previously cut with Chopper XP) of VOB 1 and merge it with the beggining cut of VOB 2 - again, transition isn't precise.

    I think ChopperXP doesn't cut precise the VOB's.

    Using TMPGenc DVD Author Program:

    I Clicked on Source Setup from the main menu page
    I Clicked on "Add DVD video" and highlight the "VIDEO_TS" folder at the HD;
    The Mpeg2 files in the "VIDEO_TS" folder were extracted .

    but.....

    It saves only 63 minutes to one MPEG file (keeping both AC3 streams, nice), I guess it gets only the first layer !!

    TMPGEnc DVD Author indicates correctly the title as 2:05 minutes long, but extracts only half of it !!(

    If I use the ISO file creation, it gets it all, but I can't edit the ISO !

    Any guess ?

    Thanks,

    Andre

    No problem....

    Download a free program called DVDX. It rips and converts a DVD 5 or 9 into an MPEG1, MPEG2, or even a DIVX. There are settings that allow u to break it down into CDr size segments, or into one huge mpeg2 file. You can set it to use the resolution or frame rate you desire.

    Get it here:

    Hi Bodene,

    Thanks, but I guess that's not what I am looking for

    It makes MPEG resampling - same thing as if I'd go the DVD2AVI-TMPGEnc way.

    Also, I think it keeps only SVCD resolution (?);

    Thanks,

    Andre

  4. Sorry to dig up an old post but this thread answered my question precisely.

    EDIT: Aaaah! Crap! No it didn't.

    Concert DVD's normally have each song as a chapter. I rip with DVD Decrypter in chapter mode. You can then demux the streams in each song. DVD Decrypter also gives you the ability to rip the entire disk to one large vob file. You need to be running XP or 2000 since the file will be over 4GB's.
