    You gotta make an avatar. Its gotta be a certain dimension and size. If you look in your profile part, at the very bottom it tells you these sizes and dimensions.

    Just resize a picture you want and make sure its not larger then it says and upload it.

    Try this website:http://www.animfactory.com/, for animated gifs.
    They have the gifs there and a simple on line program that lets you resize and change the colors of the gifs. I never had much luck resizing, as the quality generally suffers. For more variety, type 'animated gifs' into a search engine such as Google.

    If it is a still picture or hell....maybe even an animated pic, you can resize it in Photoshop if you got it. You can do it in MS Paint as well.

    I dont recommend you do it in paint...it'll turn out pretty bad. If you dont have any other image editing programs, then go ahead...
