I am trying to convert some AVIs to DVD to be able to play them on my home player. I am using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 and trying to follow "Gary's fool-proof guide". It seems the conversion goes OK, as I do end up with a mpg file but when I try to play it back I get "ClassFactory cannot supply requested class" in Windows Media Player 9. DivX5.1 does not play it as well as it gives me "failed to open file. Please check that it is a valid AVI or MPEG-4 file". I am trying to get it in MPG2 (I think) or whatever will play on my home DVD player. I don't understand all the codec stuff, but I did download them for the Windows Media Player.

    Please help.

Media player does not support mpeg2 without an mpeg2 installation. Get a DVD playing program like PowerDVD or WinDVD and you'll be able to play your file.
