Since the latest update to AV from www.avast.com reports cygwin1.dll infected with Win32.Trojan-gen.
Sounds like it could be a generic false alarm, so have mailed them to let them know. Will let you know as soon as I get a response.
Can anyone confirm the false alarm with another AV product?

Can confirm that my Avast shows the same problem, cygwin1.dll showing as a trojan.

Interested to see what they say. My protection suite doesn't have a problem with it.
If you install the latest cygwin from www.cygwin.com SVCD2DVD will overwrite cygwin1.dll that is bundled with the one from cygwin.SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

have overwritten the cygwin file, now app is inop and getting an error from the auto update asking if i'm connected to the internet.
would like to re-d/l the app and reinstall but getting a server error as well. hope it's not me... -
from the guys at Avast:
you are right, it's a false alarm. The file is the cygwin library in
fact. Thank you for notice us, we'll repair it ASAP.
