I used DVDLab to author a dvd and Gear to burn it. Everything works great in my Panasonic XP-30; however, when I tried to play it on my parents Pioneer DV-440 I experienced some audio problems. If I just hit play in the menu I created, everything is fine. Audio and video work great. If I skip chapters while playing the video, the audio will drop out but the video will play fine. Also, if I access a chapter from the menu there will be no audio either. It will only play the audio if I start at the beginning of the dvd. Once again, everything works in my player. Anyone experience this type of problem before? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ron

Might be a media compatibility issue. You might look at the media database and see if there are any similar reports.

Did you use BeSweet to create AC-3 audio? If so that could be the problem since most Pioneer DVD players don't like AC-3 audio that comes out of BeSweet.

I will have to check the media. I used Ritek G04 so I will check to see if Pioneer's have problems with that media. I didnt use besweet for ac3. My standalone dvd recorder is the panasonic E50 and it creates ac3 audio. I recorded onto a dvd-ram and transferred it to the pc for authoring and burning. It just seems odd that the pioneer dvd player would play both audio and video when hitting play on the main menu, but would lose audio when skipping through chapters or accessing chapters through the menu.

Thanks for the input. I tend to agree with you FulciLives and think that the Pioneer player is where the problem lies. I guess I just wanted to post here and get some input and make sure that is what it was. More than likely you are right and it is the player.
