  1. I need to know the apps and steps needed to accomplish the following

strip AC3 track from a 3.11 divx file
reencode the 3.11 to 5.1 (I 'll use dr divx)
remix the AC3 track into the 5.1 divx

    thanks

Use Virtualdub and load your file, set audio>direct stream copy, set video>full processing mode, under video>compression>Divx 5.1>configure and choose your settings. Under file>save avi and give it a new name. Done.

    Good luck.

Edit- If you must use DR Divx, load your file in Vdub, save wav will save the AC3 as is. Set Audio>no audio then save avi will save the avi w/o audio. Re-encode your video then load the new video into Vdub, audio>wav audio and select your original wav (actually AC3) audio, audio>direct stream copy, video>direct stream copy, save avi.
